my approach to portrait photography

I like to think that the portrait photographs I have taken will be treasured for years to come. This is why I try to capture my subjects with all their expressions and personality, so this will be reflected in a beautiful, honest and natural record of how they really are.

the portrait session - your choice of venue

my garden portrait studio All portrait photography sessions can take place in my outdoor studio - which is set in the ruins of an old barn and is surrounded by stone walls, creating a fascinating backdrop which constantly changes throughout the seasons. I can also take the portraits at your home or your preferred outdoor location. I believe that this is by far the best way to produce natural-looking portrait photographs, allowing both children and adults to feel completely comfortable without being constrained by the traditional photographic studio.

In addition, there is my Loft Studio, which offers a light, airy space for contemporary and classical style portrait photographs.

the sitting - a relaxing and enjoyable experience

I will shoot a wide variety of photographs in colour and black & white, utilising alternative locations and changes of clothing if required by you, producing a stunning range of lifestyle portraits. I aim to make every portrait sitting a genuinely relaxing and enjoyable experience, even for the most lively or camera-shy amongst us!

choosing your portrait photographs

After the portrait session, you can choose to view the photographs online, or come to my studio, to view a beautiful slideshow of your images. Whichever selection method you choose, I am on hand to guide you through the editing process, advising on our range of presentation options and contemporary products, so that you end up with a wonderful selection of portrait photographs for your home.

how to book your portrait session

I am available for portrait photography sessions from Tuesday to Saturday. Just call me on 01305-821432, to arrange your session and I will discuss suitable times of the day for the best light depending on your preferred location. It is also important to consider when your children are at their liveliest!

portrait gift vouchers

Portrait photograph gift vouchers are the perfect gift for new babies, toddlers & teens, parents, grandparents and families and for many different occasions - birthdays, weddings, Silver, Golden & Diamond wedding anniversaries, model portfolios .. or for any special occasion!

Gift vouchers can not only be used for a studio or location portrait shoot, but also towards the cost of wedding photography. In addition, they can be used to purchase prints from a past portrait session or wedding.

These are available by post, or direct from the Island Gallery, with prices starting from only £15. They can be sent either to you, or directly to the recipient.

portrait photography - prices

Portrait photographs start from £85 (or £100 for home or location shooting), which includes the sitting fee and a choice of one 12" x 8" framed print and two 8" x 9" art-mounted prints or four 8" x 9" art-mounted prints.

Extra prints of your portrait photographs start from £20, whilst larger, fine-art prints range from £85 to £465.

All sizes are available framed or unframed.

baby and toddler portrait promotion

I also offer baby and toddler sessions - three sessions taken over the course of a year, which includes one print from each session.

Prices range from £35 to £125.

model portfolios

For budding actors/actresses and models, I offer a studio shoot, with a change of outfit.

Prices start from £100, to include high-resolution photographs on a CD.

business and PR portrait photographs

I offer studio sessions, for publication, websites, PR and general ID purposes.

Prices start from £100 or, if shot on location, £150 - to include high-resolution colour and black & white photographs on a CD.
